What is an IRS Review?
An IRS review, also known as an IRS examination or audit, is a review of an individual or organization’s tax returns and financial information by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The purpose of an IRS review is to ensure that the taxpayer has accurately reported their income, deductions, and other tax-related items, and to identify any discrepancies or potential errors. The IRS may conduct a review through correspondence, by conducting an in-person examination, or through an electronic review. If the IRS finds that there are errors or discrepancies in a taxpayer’s tax returns, they may require the taxpayer to pay additional taxes, interest, and penalties.
